Although Criminal records are open to the public, no information is given without a case number.  We are not authorized to give legal advice.   

The Criminal Department does not perform criminal record checks. For record check inquiries, please call Maryland State Headquarters at 1-888-795-0011.

If you need to advise the courts that you are going to be late for court, please call 410-222-1397 and the phone receptionist will direct your call.

The Criminal Department of the Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Clerk's Office handles a variety of criminal cases.  All felony charges are heard in the Circuit Court with the exception of some felony theft charges that may be heard in the District Court.  Lesser offenses which would normally be heard by District Court may be heard by way of a jury demand in the Circuit Court.  In addition an appeal of a District Court sentence, indictment or information may be heard at the Circuit Court.

After a defendant has been found guilty, either by a judge or a jury, he/she may file for an appeal to the Court of Special Appeals or Court of Appeals. 

If qualified, a defendant may apply for an expungement of his/her record. for additional information on expungements, please visit the Maryland Judiciary website.

The Circuit Court Criminal Division performs many duties which include filing and docketing case pleadings, issuing summonses, subpoenas, warrants, body attachments, and writs.  Bonds are issued upon order of court to secure defendant's presence at court hearings.

All files and information pertaining to criminal cases are public record and can be accessed in person at the Criminal Office.  Cases that have been sealed cannot be accessed without an order from a judge.
